CIPS Saskatchewan Awards Debra Lawrence Scholarship at University of Saskatchewan Computer Science Banquet

The Department of Computer Science at the University of Saskatchewan held its Graduation Banquet on June 3rd, where students were presented with departmental awards, including the Debra Lawrence Scholarship (CIPS Saskatchewan).  The event was attended by Lola Adesuyi (CIPS SK Board Member) and Brenda Byers (both are volunteers on the CIPS SK Student Liaison Committee). Congratulations to the 2025 recipient of the Debra Lawrence Scholarship is Cyril Ayegbe!

We would like to recognize and thank, Doug Lawrence, a key figure in the development of CIPS Saskatchewan’s Mentorship Program. Doug was the Public Appointee and sat on the CIPS Saskatchewan board of directors for two terms. In his last year, Doug generously created two scholarships (available at SaskPoyTechnic and the University of Saskatchewan) for students in the BIS and CS programs. The scholarship is the Debra Lawrence Scholarship.

“I’m sincerely grateful to be the recipient of the Debra Lawrence Scholarship. This support not only motivates me to continue pursuing my goals in Computer Science but also reminds me of the value of community and encouragement. Thank you for investing in me. I hope to make you all proud.”

– Cyril Ayegbe, Student, Computer Science Program, University of Saskatchewan
