CIPS, Canada’s Association of Information Technology Professionals, is delighted to announce Sabina Posadziejewski, FCIPS, I.S.P., ITCP as its new Chief Executive Officer.
Sabina brings more than 40 years of ICT leadership experience across Canada, the United States, and Europe. Her distinguished career includes executive leadership, public-sector transformation, organizational excellence, governance, mentorship, professional development, and community building.
A CIPS member since 1986 and an I.S.P. designation holder since 1989, Sabina has demonstrated a lifelong commitment to professionalism, ethics, education, and advancing Canada’s IT profession. In 2025, she was inducted as a CIPS Fellow, the highest honour awarded by CIPS in recognition of exceptional leadership, service, and professional excellence.

An Accomplished ICT Leader
Throughout her career Sabina has held senior IT leadership roles within both the Government of Alberta and the Government of Canada.
Her executive experience includes serving as:
- Chief Information Officer for the Government of Alberta’s People, Families and Communities sector
- Chief Information Officer at Western Economic Diversification Canada
- Regional Service Delivery Management Executive for Western and Northern Canada at Shared Services Canada
- Western and Northern Canada Regional Lead for Operations at Shared Services Canada
In these roles Sabina led major organizational and digital transformation initiatives, developed governance and service-delivery frameworks, built high-performing teams, and managed technology services supporting government departments and communities throughout Western and Northern Canada.
Sabina holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Alberta and an MBA from Queen’s University. Her additional areas of professional expertise include governance, organizational excellence, business relationship management, IT service management, change management, and leadership development.
A Long and Meaningful History with CIPS
Sabina has made significant contributions to CIPS at the provincial and national levels. Her past service includes serving as President of CIPS Alberta, Alberta Director on the CIPS National Board, and a member of the CIPS Computer Science Accreditation Council accreditation team. She also played an important leadership role in the regulation of the I.S.P. designation in Alberta.
For the past three years Sabina served as Program Manager for the government funded CIPS Alberta ICT Mentorship Program for Immigrants, which recently concluded.
The program connected immigrants living in Alberta with experienced IT professionals and provided mentorship, career guidance, skills assessment, and support in navigating the Alberta IT employment market. The initiative helped participants identify their strengths, develop their skills, build professional networks, and gain a greater understanding of the Canadian workplace culture.
Her leadership of the program reflects her passion for mentoring others, supporting newcomers, encouraging lifelong learning, and creating a more welcoming and connected technology profession.
Growing CIPS and Creating Greater Member Value
As CEO, Sabina will work closely with the CIPS National Board, provincial societies, members, volunteers, partners, sponsors, and other stakeholders to grow CIPS and expand the association’s reach and impact.
Her priorities will include:
- Growing CIPS membership
- Increasing revenue and identifying new funding opportunities
- Developing new partnerships and sponsorships
- Creating greater value and additional benefits for members
- Introducing new professional development opportunities
- Expanding CIPS online and in-person events
- Collaborating with other professional associations on conferences, programs, and events
- Increasing awareness of CIPS and its professional designations
Sabina’s combination of executive experience, systems thinking, relationship building, mentorship, and extensive knowledge of CIPS makes her uniquely qualified to lead the association forward.
