IT Professionalism Week 2026
November 2 - November 6

IT Professionalism Week 2026
November 2–6, 2026
IT Professionalism Week is an annual celebration led by CIPS, Canada’s Association of IT Professionals, to promote professionalism, ethics, accountability, and recognized standards throughout Canada’s technology profession.
As technology becomes increasingly important to organizations and society, IT professionals carry growing responsibilities. The decisions they make can affect privacy, security, accessibility, public trust, business continuity, and the lives of people across Canada.
IT Professionalism Week brings attention to these responsibilities while recognizing the individuals and organizations committed to strengthening Canada’s IT profession.
Why IT professionalism matters
Being an IT professional involves more than technical knowledge. It means applying that knowledge responsibly, maintaining professional competence, following ethical principles, and considering the wider impact of technology decisions.
Strong professional standards help:
- Build public and organizational trust
- Encourage ethical and accountable decision-making
- Protect the public interest
- Strengthen privacy, security, and responsible technology practices
- Support continuous professional development
- Recognize IT as a trusted and established profession
Celebrate with CIPS
IT Professionalism Week is also an opportunity to celebrate the CIPS community and explore the resources available to IT professionals across Canada.
Throughout the week, we invite IT practitioners, technology leaders, employers, educators, students, and other members of Canada’s digital community to reflect on what professionalism means in their work and how we can collectively raise standards across the profession.
