It is within this context that Green Shield Canada invites applications for the role of Executive Vice-President (EVP), Information Technology—a role that will give a seasoned IT professional the opportunity to advance innovative systems and IT for a company that is inextricably linked with businesses, healthcare providers, communities, and individuals across Canada.

Reporting to the President and CEO, the EVP oversees a total IT spend in excess of $50M annually; a team of 200+ union and non-union staff; and, external IT service providers. With the range of resources and individuals under their purview, the EVP is responsible for establishing the company’s vision for technology and for the provision of all systems needed to meet the needs of the company across its businesses: Health Insurance, Health & Benefits Administration, and Health Services Delivery. The incumbent will drive the organization’s digital transformation and modernization; work in partnership with their team to deploy an enterprise-wide data and analytics strategy; and, develop strategies to better leverage advanced technology such as machine learning and automation.

For the role of EVP, Information Technology, the successful candidate brings to the role deep experience as an IT leader supporting a mix of stable and high growth businesses, and possesses change leadership and digital experience ideally gained in a complex, high-volume transaction-processing environment and/or in a health services environment. They will bring direct experience in and/or have a strong appreciation for various technological subject areas, including software development, digital, mobile and Internet platforms, and data analytics; will have experience leading the development and implementation of large-scale digital platforms and digital business models and products; and, will have the soft skills necessary to lead a productive team working in a rapidly changing environment. The person most likely to realize success in this role is highly motivated, ambitious, collaborative and results-oriented, all the while balancing these qualities with pragmatism, humanity, and heart.
