What is Program Recognition?
Program recognition is an informal review to recognize programs of outstanding undergraduate education in ICT that have not yet produced graduates – an education informed by state-of-the-art professional practice, sound underpinnings of information and computer technologies, and the needs and applications of industry. The review can also be an important component in an Institution’s quality monitoring and improvement program. CIPS informal review process is administered by the CIPS Accreditation Council.
CIPS informal review is intended to be applied to a wide range of program types and durations, providing institutions with the flexibility to design ICT program outcomes and graduate attributes to meet the needs of their institutional mandates, students, and target industries.
Programs submitted for informal review will be evaluated based on data submitted by the institution in the form of a self-study report and other supporting documentation and may require an on-site visit by a qualified auditor representing the Council. Site visits may be required for institutions without a current program accredited by CIPS.
