CIPS Connections  – April 4th 2008

CIPS is pleased to announce that in partnership with the University of Fredericton, CIPS is offering a total of $50,000 in Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) scholarships in celebration of CIPS’s 50th Anniversary!

All CIPS members are eligible for $7,500 Executive Master of Business Administration scholarships. These scholarships are available for the semester beginning September 2008 at the University of Fredericton. The tuition amount, less the scholarship stipend for the EMBA Program is $17,000. The University of Fredericton has been designated under Section 3 of the Degree Granting Act of the Province of New Brunswick.

The University of Fredericton’s Executive MBA with a focus on collaborative leadership is designed to meet the needs of mid-career professionals seeking to expand their managerial knowledge and develop sound leadership skills. The Executive MBA prepares professionals for upper level positions, helping them develop their team leadership, and an understanding of how to manage the broad functions of business organizations.

It can be a costly and disruptive process for skilled information professionals to get a business education to advance their careers. That’s why the 100% online model has proven so popular.

“Like most people considering an EMBA, my demanding work week is far greater than 40 hours. I have a wonderful family; a wife and two young daughters. It is important to me that I spend quality time with them. In addition to sitting on the national and local boards of Canada’s IT professional association, I regularly give talks and presentations. Last year I ran my first marathon. This year I am training to qualify for Boston. Not wanting to sacrifice my lifestyle, I find taking an online EMBA is ideal. The flexibility suits my time constraints and the time saved by avoiding commuting really adds up. Without a doubt this has been the right decision” said Adam Cole I.S.P., CIPS Member.

Students are able to complete the EMBA program in less than thirty months. Each course is seven weeks in duration and students can expect to dedicate approximately fifteen hours in their studies per week. Courses are delivered completely online with weekly faculty-lead synchronous sessions.

For CIPS members who may wish to “test drive” an EMBA in Collaborative Leadership, the University of Fredericton offers a three course Graduate Business Leadership Certificate Program with transfer credits into the remaining portion of the EMBA program for eligible persons. A 14-week course semester is available with students dedicating ten hours per week. A $1100 Scholarship Offer on this $3654 Leadership Certificate Program is available to CIPS members as well as the remaining portion of the $7500 scholarship for students who articulate into the EMBA from the Certificate Program.
