CIPS Alberta Hosts REIGNiTE 2024!

CIPS Alberta is delighted to thank all participants, including members from CIPS, DAMA, ISACA, and the CIO Association, including guests who attended the February 8th events across Alberta.  The event opened in Edmonton hosted by Sabina Posadziejewski, which was live streamed to the Red Deer, Calgary, and Lethbridge locations.  CIPS presenters included Derek Burt, former President of CIPS National and interim Treasurer of CIPS Alberta, who reinforced the Code of Ethics for IT professionals today, reminding everyone that “All people are stakeholders in computing”.

Sabina shared preliminary survey results to support ongoing engagement, then proceeded with the soft launch of the CIPS Alberta ICT Mentorship Program for newcomers funded significantly from the Alberta Immigrant Mentorship Innovation Grant. Registrants were introduced to Doug Lawrence, a world-class mentorship leader, who introduced the value of mentorship and his excitement to be part of the CIPS Alberta project.

Closing remarks by Dr. Ken Barker, the outgoing CIPS Alberta President, reinforced the need for growth and support in the ICT sector enabling Alberta’s economy.

Attendees enjoyed an evening with drinks, food, and engaging conversations, reconnecting with old friends and building new connections.  Looking forward to engaging with the CIPS Alberta community at the next event!
