A steering committee has been struck to register the I.S.P. designation with the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador. At present, I.S.P. holders rely on a national body for regulation of the designation. With the changes proposed to the CIPS organization, it is imperative that the administration of the I.S.P.be brought under the correct jurisdiction – a provincial body. The committee has drafted a list of activities, in accordance with CIPS National guidelines, outlining our way forward.

Who: ITAC
What: The Consumerization of Microelectronics: Opportunity For New Growth Markets
Description: Microelectronics are ubiquitous. Modern human beings interact with microchips hundreds of times a day. And increasingly, this level of contact is as true in leisure time as it is in the telephone and computer-driven work week. Microelectronics run our cars, our heating and cooling systems, our entertainment devices and our games. Microelectronics are finding their way into the clothes we wear and even into our bodies beneath them. This movement toward consumer uses of microelectronics requires new thinking about the economies and technological specifications of chip design. The next joint conference between the GSA (formerly FSA) and ITAC will provide a forum for the exchange of this new thinking. The Conference will take place in Bromont, Québec, the heart of the Canadian fabrication industry and the northern tip of the Hudson Valley microelectronics cluster.
