Health Sciences North (HSN) is seeking a qualified Solution Architect to Improve the current Information Technology (IT) infrastructure, optimize business operations, and set the direction and approach for integrating information applications and programs. This role is responsible for cataloging, developing, coordinating, communicating, maintaining, and enforcing overall solution architecture models to perform the organization’s business and technology activities. Integrate business needs with the appropriate application(s), technical integrations and infrastructure and understand the data available through these solutions.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a four (4) year Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field from an accredited university. We are looking for someone with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience working in solution and/or enterprise architecture and a minimum of one (1) year experience working with and managing HR Cloud Platform (e.g. SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle Cloud Human Capital Management, Workday, Microsoft) in a solution, system or enterprise architect capacity. Candidates that possess experience in areas of application development and deployment and creation and maintenance of the infrastructure are preferred.

KEY FUNCTION:
Improve the current Information Technology (IT) infrastructure, optimize business operations, and set the direction and approach for integrating information applications and programs. Responsible for cataloging, developing, coordinating, communicating, maintaining, and enforcing overall solution architecture models to perform the organization’s business and technology activities. Integrate business needs with the appropriate application(s), technical integrations and infrastructure and understand the data available through these solutions.
REPORTING:
Under the general direction of the Manager, Clinical Informatics & Applications.
DUTIES:
- Responsible for understanding all technical layers (i.e. the application, integrations, data, reports, network, infrastructure and mobile platform) of an enterprise solution and how all aspects of the solution work together.
- Develop and maintain the Solution Architecture diagrams, System Specification Design documentation and/or any Technical Architecture documentation as required.
- Consult and drive business process analysis, design and service delivery with respect to the use of technology, applications, data analytics, information, and industry trends.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of HSN’s IT landscape, including the business requirements, application configuration and integration, data input/output and adhere to HSN’s Privacy, Security and Infrastructure best practice and requirements.
- Oversee and implement appropriate access management processes for enterprise wide systems.
- Oversee and provide direction to the work of IT resources and provide support to the enterprise solution(s) (i.e. integration, infrastructure, business intelligence, customer services, privacy and security resources).
- Evaluate internal functions, business development strategies, and IT processes and recommend improvements.
- Establish and maintain contacts within business units and information system programs to understand business activities and drivers, business requirements, solutions strategies, and alternatives being considered and/or implemented.
- Provide architectural leadership in the resolutions of operations, inter-program and inter-project issues.
- Recommend ideas to reduce costs in IT and business leadership.
- Organize training to improve employee knowledge and skills for future organizational growth.
- Conduct research in talent management to improve the organization’s business operations.
- Provide business architecture and systems processing guidance.
- Ensure the efficiency, security, and support of the organization’s goals.
- Create methods for compliance architecture (i.e. data storage, metadata management, and change control).
- Determine and implement build-versus-buy strategies, mentor personnel, and views of the overall business strategy.
- Communicate complex technical information to all stakeholders; tailor communication to all audiences.
- Determine and align improvement projects with HSN’s Strategic Plan; monitor and adjust to achieve goal outcomes.
- Participate in education and training specific to current, relevant federal and provincial health and safety legislation, standards and guidelines.
- Educate and promote health, safety and wellness in the work place.
- Represent the department or program on various committees and in meetings as required.
- Perform other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
- Minimum of a four (4) year Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field from an accredited university.
- Ministry of Labour “Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps” training certificate is required.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working in solution and/or enterprise architecture.
- Minimum of one (1) year experience working with and managing HR Cloud Platform (e.g. SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle Cloud Human Capital Management, Workday, Microsoft) in a solution, system or enterprise architect capacity.
- Experience working in areas of application development and deployment and creation and maintenance of the infrastructure is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in modeling and graphic representation.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of all aspects of a project (i.e. from design through development, testing, implementation, and production).
- Demonstrated excellent technical, analytical and project management skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of business analysis techniques.
- Demonstrated proficiency in complex system design techniques (i.e. requirements discovery and analysis, formulation of solution context, identification of solution alternatives and assessment, technology selection, and design configuration).
- Demonstrated working knowledge of TOGAF Architecture Development Method (ADM) and ability to adapt the use of other methods as required.
- Demonstrated good leadership and motivational skills.

- Demonstrated ability to explore, assess, and promote new methods and technologies.
- Demonstrated training, experience or utilization of lean methodology for process improvement.
